Driving Transformation, Building the Future
The Joliet Arsenal Development Authority (JADA) leads redevelopment initiatives that drive sustainable economic growth and prosperity in Will County, Illinois. Established to guide the transformation of the former Joliet Arsenal and other properties along the Illinois Waterway, JADA works to create quality jobs, foster regional development and advance environmental stewardship. Its work has helped transform the once-decommissioned military site into a nationally recognized redevelopment success and home to North America’s largest inland port.
At the center of this transformation is the 6,300-acre CenterPoint Intermodal Center, a major logistics and transportation hub anchored by BNSF Logistics Park Chicago and the Union Pacific Joliet Intermodal Terminal. Through strategic planning, public-private partnerships and infrastructure investment, JADA has helped attract more than $3 billion in private investment, support more than 40 million square feet of industrial development and strengthen connections to domestic and global trade.
Today, JADA continues to advance transportation, freight and industrial development in Will County and along the Illinois Waterway. Its work includes regional freight and transportation planning, infrastructure improvements, industrial development, grant strategies and initiatives designed to improve freight movement and workforce mobility while supporting long-term economic and environmental sustainability.
