The American Great Lakes Ports Association held its 2016 Summer Meeting on July 13th & 14th in Chicago, Illinois. Port directors, port staff, and maritime-related businesses attended the two-day event which provided unique opportunities for networking with federal officials.
Conference sessions included a roundtable discussion on Seaway competitiveness with Terry Bowles, President of the St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, and Betty Sutton, Administrator of the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation. Additional sessions were held with the Army Corps of Engineers on the Chicago Area Waterway System; the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) on marine sanctuaries; and the U.S. Coast Guard on Great Lakes marine pilotage.
The Association’s next meeting will be held on February 15, 2017, in Cleveland, Ohio in conjunction with the Great Lakes Waterways Conference.
